North and West Metropolitan

North and West Region mapA message from the Regional Director

North and West Metropolitan Region (N&WMR) is unique within the department due to its size, levels of disadvantage and diversity, number of service partners, and extensive population growth. These factors provide significant challenges to the region's managers and staff.

The challenges are partly met by the high levels of collaboration in the region with local government, service providers and state government partners. These relationships are critical to delivering quality services and jointly planning innovative responses for a diverse and growing community.

The other way of meeting these challenges is through the skills and commitment of regional staff.

I am proud to advise that all staff make positive contributions to improving services to the community within North and West Metropolitan Region.

Whether it is direct service delivery, agency partnerships, or corporate support, we all have a shared responsibility to continuously improve our services, notwithstanding continuing service demands and complexities.

The exciting legislative, policy and service development initiatives in regional programs provide all regional staff with a great opportunity to make fundamental and positive changes to the effectiveness and responsiveness of our services. 'Every Child Every Chance, Individual Support and Choice and Care in the Community are examples of these opportunities.'

An example of local responsiveness was the launch of the N&WMR Aboriginal Services Plan by Minister Jennings on 17 July 2006, which included a dedicated section on Elders, and was developed through extensive consultation and partnership with the region's Aboriginal community leaders.
